Redemption work is a critical area of social justice work that seeks to empower individuals and communities by repairing acts of harm done as a result of participation in dominant systems, such as colonialism and capitalism. It focuses on community-led initiatives to address structural inequity and injustice, transforming relationships between oppressors and the oppressed, and restoring a sense of wisdom, well-being, and justice for all. Redemption work centres on collaborative and transformative approaches that decolonize and de-capitalistize our lives, build solidarity and reciprocity, uproot white supremacy and patriarchy, and ultimately empower vulnerable communities and individuals to live in autonomy and self-determination.
